Musafir

Founded by tabla player Hameed Khan, Musafir has become one of the world's most important ambassadors for Rajastahani folk music. The name of the group translates literally as "wanderers" and it reflects the nomadic lifestyle of the traditional musicians that form the group.

The Jaipur Kawa Brass Band is one of the leading proponents of the vibrant Indian brass band tradition, which traces its roots to the military marching bands of the British colonial era. Now a required part of important social events such as weddings, births and funerals, groups such as Jaipur Kawa give the military brass band a unique local flavor and upbeat rhythm. Since it was founded by Hameed Khan in 1995, the Jaipur Kawa Brass Brand has traveled the globe introducing new audiences to this fascinating fusion.
